Governor Laura Kelly Sides with Abortion Industry, Vetoes Two Bills Protecting Women

Every woman deserves clear and complete information before making a life-altering decision. Today, Governor Laura Kelly vetoed two bills designed to strengthen Kansas’ informed consent protections for women.

HB 2729 requires a standardized informed consent form containing information already required under Kansas law – including fetal development, abortion risks, alternatives, and where women can find help if they choose not to have an abortion.

HB 2727 ensures women have a clear and accessible path to hold abortionists accountable when informed consent laws are violated.

Kansans for Life released the following statement:

“Once again, Governor Laura Kelly has put the abortion industry above women’s safety and their right to full information. We urge the legislature to stand against this extremism and override her vetoes of HB 2727 and HB 2729.”
