Defending Our Freedom to Speak for Life

KFL hosts two successful events featuring Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee

Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee, joined Kansans for Life (KFL) supporters at two events on April 11 and 12, 2024. The events were held in Overland Park and Wichita, Kansas, bringing together over 1,300 committed defenders of life.

Peter Northcott, Executive Director, led the night by outlining the previous year’s challenges, bright spots, and the path forward.

“It has never been easy to be pro-life and it takes courage to keep moving forward,” said Northcott. “Courage and innovative thinking are needed now more than ever. Raw and real stories are so powerful. They show the compassion our movement has, day-in and day out.”

“Whether it is legislation, education, high-tech or outside the box approaches, it’s time to remobilize and engage with everything we have at our disposal. And do it without fear.”

Seth Dillon concurred:

“Free speech is a human right that impacts all other human rights. You can’t defend life if you can’t speak freely. It’s the fight that must be won because it makes all other fights possible.

“Storytelling can be an impactful and powerful way of pushing back on these (pro-abortion) ideas and humanizing humans who have been dehumanized by these disgusting euphemisms and arguments that they’re somehow subhuman…that they somehow have less rights or non-existent rights and can just be dismembered and discarded when they should be preserved and protected.”

Legislator outlines work on necessary legislation backed by KFL

Kansas Rep. Rebecca Schmoe shared her personal story of abortion coercion and work underway to enact protections from abortion coercion. The bill passed both chambers of the legislature but was heartlessly vetoed by radically pro-abortion Gov. Laura Kelly on April 12, the day of the second banquet, and will ultimately require a supermajority vote to override. During her speech, Rep. Schmoe emphatically said, “I can’t wait to get back to Topeka and override that veto!”

Honoring Heroic Defenders of Life

Each event honored one individual whose leadership has contributed greatly to the cause for life. In Overland Park, KFL honored Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, who has led pro-life outreach efforts at local, state and national levels for over four decades.

“He is fearless to stand for the truth,” said Danielle Underwood, Director of Communications. “Kansas has been blessed by the towering leadership of this towering man. A true national leader, who has humbly championed the cause for the right to life throughout his ministry.”

In Wichita, KFL honored KFL Treasurer Greg Nance for his faithful service as guardian of KFL’s financial stewardship. The awards offer a testament to the hard work and dedication of these individuals who have gone above and beyond to protect vulnerable lives and the movement’s integrity.

Dillon recognized the work KFL is doing to continue speaking on behalf of life, “KFL is a fighter for human rights and has been in the trenches for over 40 years. I’m thankful for their all-important work.”

Previous KFL banquets featured former White House Press Secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, actor Jim Caviezel, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and football star Tim Tebow.

KFL thanks the many volunteers who devoted their time and talents to help make the events successful and the supporters who attended. Event photos are available for media use with written permission. Please request use of photos by emailing kfl@kfl.org.
