Issues Home The Untold Story behind the unchecked power of the Kansas Supreme Court

Kansas is the only one of all 50 states that doesn't allow their own people to have any representative voice on appointing or electing justices to the Kansas Supreme Court.

As the Kansas Supreme Court becomes more and more controversial in its rulings, some people have begun to wonder how it is that a person gets appointed to our State's highest court.  This book describes the events which led to the destruction of the original system - the direct election of justices by the voters of Kansas - and the enactment of the current system - the Supreme Court Nominating Commission.  Once people understand that the voters have been taken out of the judicial selection process, they'll understand why the Supreme Court no longer cares what the people of the Kansas think.
