Issues Home Rape

Q. How common is abortion for cases of rape?

A. The Alan Guttmacher Institute, which is the research arm of Planned Parenthood, reports that only one percent of abortions are performed for cases of rape. Click here to read the report.

Q. Why does Kansans for Life oppose abortions for cases of rape?

A. An unborn child is a unique human being, regardless of the circumstances of his or her conception.

Q. Does abortion help a woman who is a victim of rape?

A. No, an abortion does nothing to "solve" or "help her forget" the rape. A woman who receives an abortion after rape is still a victim of rape, and may also experience negative effects from the abortion.

Q. Would Kansans for Life support a law banning abortion except for documented cases of rape and incest?

A. Yes, because such a law would stop 98% of abortions. We would continue to work until abortion is unthinkable for any reason.
